Dr. Kate Sadler, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neuroscience and Center for Advanced Pain Studies at the University of Texas at Dallas. Her lab is currently funded by the National Institutes of Health (NHLBI and NICHD R01 awards) and the Rita Allen Foundation (Award in Pain recipient). Dr. Sadler is a preclinical pain neurobiologist with over 15 years of experience. Her primary research interest is understanding how microbes and their metabolites interface with the peripheral nervous system to drive acute and chronic pain. Sadler relies on her expertise in electrophysiological, behavioral, and molecular approaches to answer these questions. In addition, she works closely with clinician scientists to incorporate patient data/samples into experimental workflows whenever possible. Her research program prioritizes investigations into understudied chronic pain conditions including sickle cell disease and endometriosis.
